School Program...

Last Friday, it rained for the first time in a very long time. Coincidentally, Z has an event in his school that day. Good thing the venue was covered so we didn’t get wet during the program.

Z’s class was supposed to dance ala Michael Jackson’s Beat It hence this position:

Did you see that pose? That was the only thing they got right after that it’s pretty much everybody’s own dance steps. LOL! Z even showed off his “breakdancing moves” as you can see here:

Mr. Crying Man No More...

Oh, I am so happy! S went to Z’s school today and his teacher told him things have changed with Z in school. Before he would refuse to answer his books and would come home frustrated and unhappy telling me that he felt tired and couldn’t answer his books. Also almost every day he cries at school and for the littlest things. When he can’t close the zipper of his school bag, he cries. When he can’t answer his book, he also cries. It was really frustrating for me and I had no idea what to do anymore.

But then thank goodness his father is so clever. He told Z the reason why he cries is because Mr. Crying Man went inside his heart. He told him the trick is to lock his heart and to not let Mr. Crying Man in once he senses his near. It was partly successful after S told him to do that. Partly successful because some days he still cries but not as often as before.

Then S had another idea, he told Z to pray before leaving our house. You know what, that really worked! Ever since Z started praying before going to school he didn’t cry anymore. I noticed it because I always ask Z what happened at school every time he comes home and the first thing he says is, “I didn’t cry!”

Yes, it’s a miracle indeed and I’m so proud of my little boy. So yesterday, the teacher confirmed what we already knew and that was Z has been doing beautifully at school and he’s starting to make friends and doesn’t get angry anymore when a classmate sits beside him.

Yes, he might have gotten some of my antisocial tendencies from me but we’re oh so changing. You’ll see in the coming days I’m going to post my visit to another blogger friend. Who it might be? Well, you got to visit me everyday to find out. LOL!

Mommy Moments – School Days...

mommy moments

It’s been more than a year that I have been blogging and sometimes I admit I run out of things to write. That’s why I thought it’s finally about time to join memes, particularly Mommy Moments. Since the topic for this week is School Days and I have already flooded my blog with posts and pictures about Z’s first day of school, I decided to post about a different kind of school that Z attended last summer – his Summer Class and Vacation Bible School. Z’s First Day of School Pics...

It would have been nice if blogs existed 20 years ago so I can see myself when it was me going  to school. Since I don’t have the power to turn back the hands of time I’ll just content myself with my memories. Fortunately for Z, I can help him remember the first day he went to school. Here are the shots S and I took: (more…)

Starting the School Year Right...

I have been raving for weeks now on how Z was getting adjusted at school and loving it by far. Yesterday, he came out of his classroom with a smile announcing that he has found a new friend.  Thank goodness for his Summer tutoring he was able to adjust rather quickly. Less than five minutes in class and I was able to leave him. He made no further fuss after that. I believe the lessons he took during the summer were invaluable in how he was able to adjust so quickly. I didn’t have to deal with any crying or tantrum scene. He just sits obediently in his chair and listens attentively. He often mentions that his three hour class passes by like a breeze which proves he is not bored at all. Sometimes I worry that he won’t be able to answer his workbooks on his own but when he goes home and I check his books I’m relieved that he was able to follow his teacher’s instructions. He is getting better and better everyday in his writing and reading. I know he still have years of schooling ahead of him but I’m happy we started it right.
