Cool Guitars

Posted by on Jan 26, 2013 in Music | 0 comments

My hubby has had enough of my son’s too much playing on the iPad. To minimize his “addiction” he laid our rules and things he should do before he can get his hands on it. One of them is an hour of guitar practice and singing one song everyday.

The first day my son was adamant but after a few minutes of prodding he started practicing. After one hour he forgot he was supposed to stop and hubby had to remind him that he has already done his responsibility for the day.

Anyway, I hope my kids will learn to play guitar as well as their dad. I’m sure someday they will be asking us to buy one of those cool Guild Guitars for them to make good music.

Verve Drums

Verve drums are just extraordinary. I had someone teach me the right way to use them, not like I did before… I was an amateur. Although I had some entry level experience with the ukulele, it was totally different from what I expected. The sound feeling is so much intense and you can really have fun playing.

And, above all, learning is not very easy, you have to be dedicated, but is so so rewarding when you manage to understand how it works, what do you have to do to get some real results. I have to say that I am a new person, fully changed and mentally improved.

The joy you have by playing the Verve drums can not be really compared with other types of drums. Especially the sound quality you get from them, beats everything I owned until now. Superior materials make it that way. Money well spent.

The Fender Twin Reverb, one of the classical amps brought out by Fender, originally introduced circa ~1963, As one of the most influential and well renowned guitar (and related products) manufacturers, Fender has the use of some of the worlds experts at its disposable, reflected in the high grade products released under it’s name.
The amp itself, is what’s known as an ‘all tube’ amp, a type of amp utilising tubes or valves to increase a signal. The amp typically also features two 12″ speakers, operating at 8ohms and manufactured by various companies. However, the most common speaker type found in the Twin Reverbs currently, are the CTS and Eminence models. The fender twin reverb series is widely regarded as one of Fenders most iconic styles of amps and has shaped the industry standard around it. Many famous musicians such as Eric Clapton and Mike Bloomfield famously favoured Fender amplifiers, with the Twin Reverb being preferred in particular.

Band Practice

My husband has lots of friends who are musicians. Since musicians need to make music, part of their life is to practice making music. Since hubby and I are inseparable I almost always tag along. Here’s a couple of pictures on one of their band practice sessions.

Hubby was using a fender while another one I think was holding a les paul shred. But whatever their preference for guitar was it was obvious they were united with their love for music.

Anyway, I forgot to tell you these were my husband’s high school friends. They met at school but kept in touched throughout the years. One of them is even my son’s godfather. I’m glad that something as beautiful as music keeps them together. They may lose out of touch for a few years but once they hold their musical instruments and play together again, it’s like they were never even apart.

Broken Guitar

My youngest is not as careful as my eldest with his toys.

Take, for example, this toy guitar that his Kuya had ever since he was little. It was working fine until the little one took a fancy and started playing with it.

A few months ago I noticed the back separating.

And the sticker peeling.

Now it’s already beyond repair. Its back has completely separated and no
pocket tools repair it again. So we had throw this one away.

He’s now using a different guitar, more expensive than that one. We just hope it will last because that’s his Kuya’s last toy guitar.

Following on their Dad’s Footsteps

Posted by on Apr 23, 2012 in Music | 0 comments

Both my sons are attending the guitar lessons taught by their Dad at church. My eldest has become more serious with his guitar practice as soon as he saw other kids also wanted to learn to play the guitar. So every afternoon after he finish his PACES he practices it on his own.

Meanwhile, my youngest is only 15 months old but his age doesn’t deter him to try to learn. He is already watching a lot of music videos and trying to mimic the artists playing their guitars. He is also attending the guitar lessons twice a week holding his play guitar. He would sit through the lessons as long as he could too.

I’m very proud of my sons. I know they are going to be a musician just like their Dad. Pretty soon they would be asking their Dad to teach them more tricks and how to operate the Hao. I know hubby would be happy to oblige and supervise their lessons.
