Salt Special Screening

Posted by on Jul 28, 2010 in Movie | 1 comment

We’re excited because we’re going to a special screening of Salt tonight.  I heard Angelina Jolie is better here than in Tomb Raiders.  We didn’t want Z to go because it’s PG 13 but for some reason he refused to be left at my MIL’s house.  So now we have no choice but to bring him with us.  I just hope they let him in.

Anyway, I know that no matter how expensive the cinema is you still won’t find any electric fireplaces.  A cold cinema can ruin my movie experience so I’ll surely bring my jacket.  Of course, hubby will also be with his love tonight.  It’s not me and I don’t get jealous because I love it too.  Yes, our movie experience is not complete until we’re with our love – a big tub of cheese popcorn!

Iron Man 2

Last Friday, we watched Iron Man 2 at Megamall.  I liked the first part a lot so I was looking forward to watching this one.  We arrived at 4:30 and found out that the movie will start at  5pm so with only 30 minutes left to eat we decided to take out some food instead.  Hubby asked the cinema staff if food is allowed and found out that yes, food is allowed except for rice and spaghetti.  Coincidentally, I wanted to order spaghetti that day so I had to eat the spaghetti just before we went inside.
We arrived at the theater in the nick of time.  We started munching on our food as soon as we were seated.  I was a bit apprehensive Z won’t like the movie.  Those who have small children know how embarrassing it is if their children gets bored in the middle of a movie.  During the first part when the characters were just talking Z couldn’t care less about the movie and was playing with his chair which in turn was making some noises.  I tried to stop him and good thing he listened but when the movie gets boring again he starts playing with his chair again.  So that’s why all throughout the movie I was silently praying that it will have less talk and more action scenes because action scenes he likes a lot. The problem was when he can’t understand what’s going on he starts asking questions loudly.  Whew, it’s really hard watching a movie when you have a young kid in tow but Z is getting better and better and we’re predicting that this year (well, until just before our baby is born) we’ll be watching more movies.  After that when our baby is born we won’t be able to see the inside of the moviehouse again in years. :) )

It’s Complicated Movie Review

Posted by on Feb 18, 2010 in Movie | 2 comments

I was free the previous couple of days so I had time to check on guaranteed issue life insurance. Have I told you we still don’t have any? I have read in Francisco Colayco’s book that a life insurance is one of the must-haves for a family especially like ours because Z is still so little.  We’re praying and hoping that no accidents will happen to any one of us but we really don’t know what’s in store for us in the future. There are a lot of unpredictable things happening. Like in the movie, It’s Complicated. Lots of things happened that they did not expect although it’s not that terrible but they themselves were surprised with their action.

It’s Complicated is not a typical movie and love story, I tell you but I was encouraged to watch it because it’s a Meryl Streep movie and I know all her movies are great. Still, I was a bit hesitant because well, I really didn’t fancy watching older people having sex. LOL!

Don’t worry, this is movie didn’t have such scenes. Meryl Streep plays a mother of three grown up children who ends up having an affair with his ex-husband who divorced her ten years before for a much younger woman. She has finally moved on from the divorce and had even started being cordial with her ex-husband and his younger wife but by some twist of fate her ex, played by Alec Baldwin, fell in love again for his ex-wife. Soon the tables were turned and she’s now the mistress that she so hated years before. Would they end up together or not?

Anyway, I am so glad I watched it.  I guess you can expect nothing less from a movie with Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin in it. Their chemistry onscreen is palpable and I was laughing the whole movie. This you got to watch but brace yourself for the ending. That’s the only part I didn’t like.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs Review

Posted by on Feb 18, 2010 in Movie | 0 comments

I have public speaking anxiety so thank goodness I only have to write my Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs review and not talk about it in public. Yes, that’s the truth I tremble when I have to speak onstage. Thank goodness I don’t have to do that these days especially when I started staying at home and having blogging as a hobby.  I can write okay but when I have to speak in public terrible things happen. LOL!

Let’s get back to my movie review. I thought my little Z would be entertained with this but – surprise, it was actually Dad and Mom who enjoyed it. Z got bored in some scenes and was throwing a tantrum at some point because he wanted to watch Spongebog instead but we were into the movie all the way.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs revolves around Flint, the young scientist who lives in an island community whose main food is sardines. Flint’s inventions were mostly failures until he made an invention that turns water in any kind of food. Because of a series of accidents, his food machine was propelled into the clouds. He thought it was all gone but it turned out his machine really works because pretty soon it was literally raining with burgers, hotdogs, and ice cream in Swallow Falls. Flint went overnight from an unknown person to the hero of the town. Every person in town was so happy with his invention – except his father.  Pretty soon, his invention threatens to destroy Swallow Falls and it was up to him to make things right again.

This movie is entertaining but nothing really spectacular so don’t expect much. It’s still good enough to watch so I still recommend it.
