Professional Carpet Cleaning is a Must

Posted by on Dec 19, 2012 in Home Life | 0 comments

One of the first things that my husband and I did as homeowners was get new carpet for our new home. We decided we wanted top quality, cream colored carpet along our stairway and entire second floor. It was just what our home needed to add that touch of coziness. As out toddler entered the stages of potty training we did not expect the number of accidents that took place. Thankfully, potty training was a brief time in our lives, but the contamination it did to our carpet lasted longer than we would have liked. Potty accidents are just one of the risks of carpet damage that we didn’t foresee. Toddlers throw up, get dirty, and make a mess. The carpet is a target to all that a toddler can do. Although a good vacuum can pick up all the dirt, it won’t be able to get a deep cleaning with sanitation. You will probably want to invest in a professional carpet cleaner approximately twice a year. Not doing so can create health problems such as asthma and allergies. The longer you withhold on this chore, the harder it will be to get the deep cleaning you need. So, if you have carpet in your home, then a professional carpet cleaner is a good investment.

Surviving Motherhood Managing The House

Posted by on May 25, 2012 in Home Life | 0 comments

Being a full time mom is hard work, especially if you have to do all the housework yourself aside from taking care of the kids. While it can be rewarding because you get to spend most of your time with your kids, sometimes, I wonder how a lot of moms do it, what’s their secret? How do they get through the day?

I never understood how they manage to survive, until I finally became a mom myself. And although it really is very hard, I later learned that with proper time management and the use of efficient, easy to handle tools like the Lady Bug vapor steam cleaner, I can conveniently clean the house, finish all the chores and be able to spend time with my kids more.

I also learned that patience is key when it comes to managing the house and looking out for your children, that, and of course, knowing how not to give in to stress!

White French Furniture are Love

Posted by on Apr 3, 2012 in Home Life | 0 comments

My father is in the furniture business. He sells local furniture at a small shop near his home. He has all types of furniture to fill every corner of your house from your living room to your kitchen. Recently, I admired some French furniture that he was selling. He said French furniture is known for its elegant and ornate design. I instantly fell in love with one of the living room pieces but unfortunately, it was too high for my budget at the moment. Also, with the kids still small I would have a heart attack if I find them messing with my beautiful furniture!

Some day when the kids have finished school and we have enough funds in our bank account I promise to decorate our home with French furniture. I already have my heart set for the all white theme. It’s so pleasing and clean to the eyes that’s why I like my furniture white. White will always be trendy so I know my investment will be long lasting.

She’s Going Home

After 5 years, we had another baby in the family. He is already one year old now but our schedule is still pretty crazy. He occupies most of my time and he’s the reason I rarely get to update my blogs. If one baby can be so much work I wonder how others with double baby strollers manage their house.

Anyway, I’m pretty sad today because our helper for three years is about to go home. She has been invaluable to us and we treated her like family. Still I hope her success in her life in the future. I hope we had made a positive influence in her life in our own little way.

What I Learned from Brangelina’s Parenting Style

Posted by on Oct 1, 2011 in Home Life | 0 comments

We’re back from our mini-vacation! It’s refreshing to take a break for a while. Internet connection was super slow at their place so I had the chance to be offline for two days. Of course I didn’t get any rest because our baby refused to stay at one place! He is a fast crawler too so I don’t dare take my eyes off him or else he’ll grab anything he gets his hands on – whether that’s a toy to a Banner stand, I tell you nothing is too heavy for this little boy!

Now out of the blue while waiting for my hubby to finish his work I realized that I can learn something from Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s parenting style. According to the news, they have this rule that when one of them is working on a movie the other parent would have to stay at home with the kids. Like right now, Brad Pitt is shooting a movie so Angie is often seen out with the kids taking them to see movies or to eat out.

So now I have banned myself from working until hubby finishes his shift in the afternoon. I really can’t do much work anyway being busy with the baby and homeschooling so I might as well stop myself from turning on the laptop completely until hubby is already available to take care of them. If he is too tired then I will just have to wait until they sleep at night.

Anyway, wish me luck! I might have to peek for a minute or two but no work for me during the day starting now.

Affordable Home Warranties Can Lead to Big Savings and Ease Your Worries

Posted by on Sep 23, 2011 in Home Life | 0 comments

Four years ago, we moved out of our parent’s house, rented our first apartment, and bought our first set of appliances. We bought a refrigerator, air conditioner, clothes washer, gas range, and TV. Just a year ago, we were fortunate to be able to move into our own house. We were ecstatic to finally say goodbye to paying monthly rent but pretty soon we discovered that having your own home meant no more landlord to foot the bill for home repairs. To date, we have already spent a lot of money having the roof repaired, the kitchen tiles refitted, and windows replaced. The cost in those repairs were all unexpected and now we’re shuddering to think how much it would cost should our appliances break down.

Nobody likes emergency expenses especially expensive ones. Take for example our clothes washer which is the most used of all our appliances. I had it repaired last year twice and this year if it breaks down again I might be forced to buy a new one which will set me back by more than $600. But that’s not all because our refrigerator also needs to be looked at. It’s always making a mess when I defrost. The water is supposed to go straight to a container at the back but for some reason it’s not going there so I might have a contractor look it over. I am estimating that the repair will cost at least $100. I don’t have an extra $700 for repairs and frankly, I’d rather spend that for something the kids need.

What if you can let someone else worry about the repair or replacement of your home systems and appliances for a year for a fixed cost?

American Home Shield offers a home protection plan that takes all the worry away from you should something breaks down in your home provided that it is covered. They have a various plans to fit your budget and you can even customize your plan to cover what you only need covered.

Signing up under American Home Shield would mean my home is covered for a year. Once something breaks they will send a reliable service contractor  to assess the damage. If its covered by warranty they would fix it or even replace it with a new one and all I need to do is pay their trade service call fee which can be $60, $100, or $125 depending on our plan.

If only I had thought of signing up for affordable home warranties as early as last year then we would have already saved a lot of money but I’m glad this year I would be saved from the hassle of looking for a reputable contractor and worrying about the cost the next time something breaks.
