Tropical Depression Tino

We just got a break from all the typhoons this Undas weekend but now Tropical Depression Tino is on it’s way to the Philippines. A tropical depression is not yet a typhoon but one of its beginning stages. It is characterized by an organized system of clouds and thunderstorms. Unlike the much stronger typhoon, the tropical depression doesn’t have the characteristic “eye” and spiral shape but it’s still a low pressure area and thus is called, a depression.

As of 2 am of November 3, 2009 here is PAGASA’s update on Tropical Depression Tino.

At 2:00 a.m., today, Tropical Depression “TINO” was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 150 kms East Northeast of Casiguran, Aurora (17.0°N, 123.5°E) with maximum winds of 55 kph near the center. It is forecast to move West Southwest at 11 kph.

Tropical Depression Tino is located 150 kms East Northeast of Casiguran, Aurora as of 4 am of November 3rd, with a maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near center, and is expected to move at West Southwest at 11 kph.

It’s probable path, still according to PAGASA, is as follows:

Wednesday morning:
in the vicinity of Baguio City
Thursday morning:
200 kms West of Dagupan City
Friday morning:
460 kms West Southwest of Dagupan City
