Oh, food! This has been my constant source of headache long ago when Z was just a toddler. I just resigned from my job. Around that time I stopped Z’s bottle feeding and encouraged him to eat normal food. That was a very difficult period for me as a mommy. Z would take two hours to finish his food. Yes, you heard me right – two really long hours! He would put them in his mouth but then he wouldn’t eat it, it’s like he’s storing it there. It was a cycle of encouraging him, cajoling him, and then when I had enough putting him on time out. Many times I found myself wanting to cry and giving up. I couldn’t understand why he didn’t want to eat his food and I had no one to talk to because our relatives live far away.
But now I’m so glad that period is over! Z is eating normal food and by himself. He eats everything that’s served on the table except camote tops! LOL Although he’s still not eating the quantity I really want him to eat I have to be satisfied when he said he’s already full or else I’ll go crazy trying to make him finish his food.
So what’s Z’s favorite? Here it is!
No, it’s not the spaghetti but the french fries! You see, it’s a trick that I discovered on my quest to getting Z to eat. I make him look forward to every meal by serving his favorite food with it. Z doesn’t like spaghetti that much so what did I do I told him he can eat his favorite fries together with his spaghetti. He needed to “alternate” eating spaghetti and fries. Alternate – I love that word! It has saved me a lot of headaches and gray hair. Z loves that word to. You should try it to and see how it works on your little one. Z’s favorite alternates are mainly fruits so it’s a YUMMY victory with me! LOL
@kikamz – yes, you can try it too but with fruits na lang. I’m sure she’ll like fruits too.:)
@Hazel – thanks!
@Phebie – thanks for visiting too! i hope you come back.
@Lindz – yes and they can drive us mad if they refuse to it. glad it worked for you too.
@Cookie – thanks for the visit!
@chubskulit – sometimes we need to bribe talaga just to save our sanity.
@darly – thanks for the visit too. ^^
@chris – yes, when you can’t think of anything else try this. it works perfectly for Z almost everytime.
@Kero – thanks Kero! I call that my “aha” moment the day I discovered it. ^^
@Amor – iba iba rin talaga moods nila. hehe
brava! ang galing ng Mommy! i will keep your wisdom in the future
im glad you can join us again this week..
thanks for the tip. maybe i can try this with my picky eater?!
Daming alibi ng anak ko if he doesnt want to eat. So picky. Pero minsan nagfufood trip, mayat maya kain.
that’s a great strategy momi p, ill keep it in mind should i face similar problem with my bebe.
thanks for the visit
Oh Z is like my son, so picky when it comes too food! Nice combo of food hehehe. My bribe to my son is going outside. When I told him that we will go outside, that’s when he’ll eat.
Yummy Mommy Moments
spaghetti is really kids’ all-time favorite. Have a great MM
Hi, victory indeed, we all know how some kids can be difficult when eating food, I tried that trick before it did work.
my daughter loves spaghetti too…
tnx for the visit…
Happy MM and God Bless!
I share your happiness at overcoming that difficult period. Fries are usual hits with kids.
that’s great trick mommy! maybe I should try to alternate too? hehe! but then my samantha is still 21 months old.. she can’t have much french fries although she likes it too.
That’s a problem I would like to have. Oh, his name’s just my idea. I wanted a one syllable name so you can say it short and I always thought Mike is a nice name but too many people already have it so I just thought of something that rhymes with that, hence, Zyke. LOL!
Thank you for the earlier visit too
You and Zyke can come over anytime hehe..:) Happy MM!
Your son has a unique name – Zyke?
Where did you get it?
You have a great idea going for you, at least, you got him started into eating almost anything. My problem with my son now is when to stop hehe
Our kids truly wake up the creativiy in us, even in foods!
