Woman Fined for Sharing Copyrighted Songs

Have you heard about the woman who is being fined for sharing copyrighted music online? In a landmark decision, a minnesota jury found the defendant Jamie Thomas-Rassett for willful infringement of the music industry’s copyrights. She was asked to pay a hefty fine of $1.92 million for sharing 24 songs in Kazaa. She is the first person to date to ever go on trial for illegal music sharing. If only she chose to share royalty free music instead of copyrighted songs then she won’t be in the front page today.

I know this is going to scare people as it is a known fact that music sharing is rampant and now you don’t have to buy an album to listen to a music you like. My husband is a musician and I always advice him to download royalty free music.   Better yet, he can make his own songs.  He has the equipment he needs – his guitar and his voice! LOL! If only he also have Reason drum kits then we would have a complete band equipment in the house.

I think she didn’t mean any harm. I think it was an honest mistake. Poor woman. :(
