The Great American Seafood cook off has finally announced the winning recipe for the Fifth Annual Great American Seafood Cook-off. Chef John Currence, from Mississippi, wowed the judges with his Mississippi Redfish Courtbouillion with Seafood Dirty Rice. He bested 14 other chefs coming from 14 different states all over the US. Because of his winning recipe, he now has the prestigious title, King of American Seafood.
Among the top 5 recipes, I was really intrigued by this Mississippi Redfish Courtbouillion with Seafood Dirty Rice. Rice is the staple food in our country, we eat it everyday, with every meal but in all the years I have been eating rice, this is the first time I have heard of Seafood with dirty rice. I would certainly love to try it and when I found out that the recipe won, my mouth watered even more.
The Great American Seafood Cook-off is indeed a great idea in promoting domestic seafood in every state. Where else can you get the freshest seafood but right there in your local market? Mothers like me should always get the freshest seafood in the market because the fresher it is, the more nutrients your family will get. Aside from that, it will be easier on the family budget if you patronize your local products because it is definitely cheaper than imported ones. Last but not the least, the taste of freshly caught seafood is incomparable to those, well, not so fresh anymore.
If you are hesitant to buy your local seafood because you are out of recipe ideas, just check out www.GreatAmericanSeafoodCookOff.com. It features a wealth of seafood recipes that you and your family will surely love. While you are there, be sure to vote for your favorite recipe and you will have a chance to win a trip to New Orleans prize package.
